Françoise Suzan

Former Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Member of the Cabinet and Deputy Secretary General of the Senate of the Republic.

 

Ms. Suzan is a specialist in the organization of parliamentary work (International Institute of Public Administration of the ENA, Paris, France). She has a perfect command of legislative and administrative drafting techniques and is also a lawyer. Holding a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law and Economics of Port-au-Prince (Haiti), she also acquired a solid background in public finance, which earned her an important place in the civil service, with several major contributions to numerous legislative texts and legislative interpretations.

 

Concurrently with her long and successful career in the Haitian Parliament, where she climbed all the administrative levels, to become in 2018 Deputy Secretary General of the Senate of the Republic. She acquired training in Human Rights (Strasbourg, France). Always very concerned by everything related to gender equality issues, she has been involved for more than twenty years in the fight for the defense and triumph of women's rights, notably through the feminist organizations Fanm Yo La (FYL), the Platform Tribune Politique des Femmes (PTPF) and Ayiti Dapre Fanm Peyizan Ak Fanmil (ADFPF).

 

Mrs. Suzan is very involved in cultural activities highlighting the country's resources.

 

Totally devoted to her country's cause, Marie Françoise Suzan firmly believes that Haiti's revival depends on the relentless involvement of women, who have a major role to play. Hence her commitment to the government of Prime Minister Gary Conille, to hold high the banner of women's demands, while working tirelessly to provide lasting solutions.
